The Latina Resource Center opened it's doors in May of 2000 as a culturally welcoming center designed to meet the needs of Latina women. The need for this type of programming was so great, $1,000,000 in funding was committed to guarantee the first five years of operation. The LRC was an opportunity to see if, by using charitable dollars, we could increase the involvement of Omaha's traditional agencies whose major expertise in service delivery had been to Caucasian and African Americans and use their combined experience and innovation to serve an increasing Latino population. Collaborating partners include: Catholic Charities, Chicano Awareness Center, Family Service, and the YWCA. For more information about the Latina Resource Center, call 402.898.6760.
