A Supporting Organization provides your family with many benefits of a private family foundation, with the additional support of our giving expertise and administrative services.  It allows you to:

  • Involve multiple generations in giving, now or as your successors.
  • Work in partnership with the Omaha Community Foundation staff to determine the members of your organization’s board.  OCF is required by law to appoint a majority of directors to serve on Supporting Organization boards.  We are committed to working closely with you to ensure your comfort with all directors.
  • Convert appreciated property such as publicly traded securities, closely held stock, real estate, and more, into charitable cash without the burden of capital gains.
  • Adjust your contributions based on year-end plans, market conditions, or other personal considerations.
  • Provide support to the charities you and your family care about now or through your estate.
  • Consolidate charitable record keeping.
  • Receive full credit for grants made from the Supporting Organization or issue grants anonymously.
