 "A Time to Heal" is a research program designed to provide rehabilitation for women who have completed breast cancer treatment. The program will be offered in Council Bluffs for breast cancer survivors in Council Bluffs and southwest Iowa.

Project/Program Description

 The project is a 12 week, holistic rehabilitation program for women who have completed breast cancr treatment. It will consist of a weekly 2 1/2 hour program involving gentle exercise, information about physical and nutritional resources to rebuild strength and energy, training in meditation and relaxation techniques, information and activities focused on processing the psychological, spiritual and emotional issues raised during cancer treatment, and information and exercises focused on creating a healthy, happy life after cancer treatment. The goal is for women to set their own goals for renewed health and to track their own process and progress with weekly logs and journals.
Project/Program Impact

 "A Time to Heal" offers information about a variety of topics and skills in a support group setting that can enhance the breast cancer survivor's body-mind-spirit wellness. In order to encourage healing, participants will be given action steps based on research studies that verify the value of the steps. Breast cancer survivors will be empowered to make personal choices that will enable them to not just survive, but to thrive, after breast cancer.
